Exploiting Software Without Using the Hard Disk Operating System Linux Fedora Core 4
Abstract
Linux Operating System has been expanded and applied in society in providing many alternative solutions that creats eficiency, cost reduction, and work support. Linux is free and open source which can be used. Using Linux, it is possible to have maximal capability of the computer with a minimum configuration for clients, for example a computer network with no hard drive. In this network, one computer is equiped with the server, while other computer as clients are not equiped with hard drives as a storage medium. Using a computer network, one can print a report at the printer attached at other computer, or provide news to another computer located at other location. Computer network that is very common is the Local Area Network (LAN). A network computer without Hard Disk is a network where one computer acts as a server equipped storage media, while clients are not equipped by storage media, but it is able to re-boot operating system and activated appplications together so that it can be used for daily work. Open source is able to lead users becoming creative, inovative, and competitive in doing experiments on source codes. The use of the network without Hard Disk can minimize computer procurement on clients, minimize operating system installation at clients, and be one of technology utilizations to increase computer performance.
